Keyword Research For SEO

Keyword research is one of the most important, yet at the same time often most misunderstood element of search engine optimization. The information shown through SEO is all about the keywords, these are the specific phrases and words used by people while using search engines. The keywords and phrases you choose to optimize your website and your off-page content for makes all the difference. If you’re looking into optimizing your site in order to increase its visibility to web users, then this is the first step you’ll need to take in any search engine optimization campaign.

One mistake a lot of webmasters make with SEO Services is to assume that the one keyword which is most relevant to their site is necessarily the best one to optimize all of their content for. Of course this is not and absolut no no and yes your keyword needs to be used where ever possible and would not produce results quickly. If you want to move your website up the pages of a search engine you must perform sufficient keyword research.

Lets imagine that you have a webpage regarding clocks. Instinctively, you’d want to optimize your content for the keyword “clocks” or “clock”. Of course there is absolutley nothing wrong with doing this but just maybe you could think of the possibility of doing a little bit more. sometimes these types of keywords can be too non specific, particularly if you are trying to sell something. Also there are a handfull of very common search term and if your looking to rank in the first page with them – good luck.

Obviously, you’re going to need to be more specific if you want to make your SEO a success. And this is where keyword research takes effect: there are many excellent tools available for this very function some you can ourchase some are free. Google offers a free keyword research tool which many feel to be among the best – though there are certainly a great number of choices for webmasters to explore.

What these tools can do for you is to show you how many searches a given keyword or phrase receives. This is in itself very valuable data, but a keyword research tool can show you something else which is at least as important: the degree of competition for these keywords. This is so clever it well be able to show you if ‘clock’ is infact the right word for your keyword or if you should consider a more specific word or name to attract the consumer like ‘cuckoo clock’.

The more detailed and specific keywords are not searched for as often as the single word keywords but with less competition. The point of keyword research is to help you find THE words which are search for the most often and therefore should be used for optimising your content or not searched for enough and therefore you should not use them.

If you aren’t a guru then you may (like me) find keyword research difficult. I can find keywords all day long. Most of what I find are useless though.

When I used Google’s keyword tool I trusted the results 100%. Why wouldn’t I? Big company like that shouldn’t be giving false figures. Sadly, that’s not always how it goes.

The data returned isn’t accurate. However it would have been when they collated it. The answer to this particular enigma came to me almost accidentally.

I was going for a keyword that had roughly five thousand competing pages. I was pretty sure I could get a good result with that keyword. I started banging articles out left right and centre. Hundreds in fact.

It didn’t take long to notice there were now over 9000 competing sites. I could hardly believe that. Had there been some mistake? As it happens most of these extra results were my articles on these different sites.

My point being is that I’d have swerved this keyword if I had seen nine thousand competitors. Turns out I was competing mostly against myself as my article was the cause of these sites ranking. Not a bad situation to be in if you ask me.

Anyway, I decided to give a keyword research service a try as I couldn’t count on getting lucky every time. I was looking to get some decent keywords delivered on a daily basis. I calculated the cost of these services and concluded that they were value for money.

I chose to give Travis Sago’s Instacash keyword research service a go. Travis being at the top of the bum marketing pile. Bum marketing is something I really like.

It takes me an hour or two to come up with a couple of decent keywords. Getting them delivered is a huge help. Two hours or so to me is quite valuable. Put that couples hours saved against the daily cost and it adds up to value.

All the big marketers bang on about outsourcing. I reckon there’s not much difference here. Outsourcing my keyword research to someone else.

If you want to hear about my trial of the Instacash service get yourself over to my website. I said earlier about how I got loads of articles published for my chosen keyword. I’ll show you how I did that at my site.
